some useful information for your holiday in Turkey...

Visa Requirements Domestic flights in Turkey
A valid passport and a tourist visa are necessary to enter Turkey. In most cases the visa is given upon arrival, but it may be best to check the requirements for your country with the Turkish Ministry of Tourism.

Summer and winter schedules for flights on Turkish Airlines are available on their website at www.thy.com. Check also www.atlasjet.com and www.onurair.com.tr.

Alternatively, you can fly into Bodrum or Dalaman. Bus connections are fast and frequent from all major cities. There are also regularly scheduled hydrofoils  and ferries from Rhodes and Kos.

In the event that you wish to combine sightseeing in Istanbul or Izmir with your Blue Voyage, Zephyria will be happy to assist you with your travel plans.  We also work with a small selection of excellent hotels in Bodrum, should you wish to stay in Bodrum prior to or after returning from your Blue Voyage.

Health Currency

Hospitals, private doctors, 24 hour pharmacies  and medical facilities are to Western standards

The denomination is the New Turkish Lira (YTL.) The highest denomination is the 100 YTL note.  Many businesses operations will accept USD or Euro.

Money exchange is very easily done at all banks and private exchange centers.  US dollars, British Sterling and Euros are accepted at some stores. Credit cards are widely accepted and ATM and cash machines are readily available.

What to Bring Weather

Very little! Life aboard a gulet is very casual, and you'll be spending most of your time in swimming suits, shorts, and tops.  Some guests enjoy a change of dress for dinner, whereas others relish in not having to worry about clothes.

Do bring prescription medications, sunglasses, reading glasses, hat, sunblock, books, walking shoes and deck shoes.

We'll provide bathing towels, hairdryers, and music CDs.

The weather in Aegean and Mediterranean includes hot, dry summers, crisp autumns and cool winters (but no snow).  The average daytime high in the summer months is in the mid 30s, with warm evenings.  Spring and Autumn call for warm, sunny days and cool nights and the occasional thunderstorm.

If you are planning to come in July or August and are sensitive to heat, we suggest an air conditioned gulet.

Communication Temperatures

There is excellent telephone service in Turkey. Public telephones are accessed with prepaid calling cards for sale in all kiosks and mini markets.  Internet cafes and hotels provide internet access, including AOL.

Shopping Children

Turkey is a shopper's paradise.  Among the items to look out for are wool rugs, silk carpets and kilims, leather jackets, gold and silver jewelry, handicrafts, and spices.

Turks adore children, and they will be warmly welcomed wherever you go, even restaurants late at night, and especially aboard our boats.  The crew will keep an eye out for your kids while they are swimming, and can arrange for them to go fishing and snorkeling.  The chef is adept at creating child friendly means in addition to the gourmet offerings for the adults.

Electricity Time Zones

Electricity in Turkey is 220 volt, 50 cycle.  Hairdryers are provided on board your gulet.

Turkey is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich and observes Daylight Savings.
